Moon Lodge Rememberings
Moon Lodge Rememberings is a collection of poetry and other musings received from Great Spirit during thirteen separate and sacred occasions of menstruating inside the moon lodge at Kipukamaluhia, a unique eco-sanctuary in the heart of the Kaʻū district on the Big Island of Hawai`i.
The book speaks to the shaming of moon time by the patriarchy, and shares historical information of moon lodge practices from Indigenous cultures throughout the world. It is a story of one woman's journey to de-colonize and re-indigenize her relationship to her moon cycle, coupled with beautiful and poetic expressions of silence and stillness from her direct experience inside the moon lodge.
“Moon Lodge Rememberings is a red-thread back to what patriarchy taught us to forget: that our blood is an oracle and our bodies are a temple of the Earth’s dreaming. Keri’s poems arrive like small, clear drops of medicine- part prayer, part transmission, part instruction manual for how to sit still inside the storm of being a woman who bleeds. This book remembers spirituality in the oldest way possible: bare skin on the ground, listening.” –Maya Luna, author of She Is God and creator of the Forbidden Fruit podcast

We now know that pausing at one one's moon time is a brain and body tonic, a nutrient, to nourish a woman's body and soul. Keri's book invites you into the sacred spaces that emerge from honoring what has too often been ignored, a woman's moon time. Our blood does not come from a wound; it is the essence of women's power to create. The practice of being with one's bleed is ancient and re-emerging. If you find yourself unsure how to honor your moon time, Keri's poetry opens a sacred space to show how your unique gifts and wisdom can unfold within you.

Reading Moon Lodge Rememberings was a transmission that brought me deeper into my body, my breath and into a place of stillness and presence. I found myself taking deep breaths as the simplicity and timeless wisdom of Keri's poems awakened a place of re-membering within me, allowing my nervous system to settle and enter into a state of knowing all is well, all is right here, nothing to grasp and nothing to do. Moon Lodge Rememberings keeps the lineage of the Red Tent and Ancient Rites of Passage of women's blood mysteries in connection to Earth alive, such medicine for our times. I will return to this book again and again as a way back home.

The dreaming path of women’s blood, body and psyche is a call away from the barrenness of mainstream visions that strip women and the feminine from its deeper authority and heart. Keri Shunya Sender's words bleed through this book with ritual, fire, poetry and story. And in so doing, they call all to the Earth’s way of birthing, dying, and rebirthing - a true path of depth and soul in a world that resists the stain of red and brown. This book is an invitation, as she writes, “to be brave in the face of love.”

unshaming / Process Work
YOU carry the medicine you need within you…
It would be an honor to follow your process so you can find and access the medicine that’s already inside of you, your symptoms and your problems.
Process-Oriented Psychology (aka Process Work) or Unshaming is an inquiry into your own experience that involves uncovering and exploring the lesser-known parts of yourself, commonly known as “shadow work”. Once revealed, these shamed, hidden or disavowed aspects of yourself can allow you to know and BE the wholeness that you already are.
Process Work takes an anti-colonialist perspective and eradicates the belief that the therapist is the authority in the therapeutic relationship and the person who knows best. Instead, I follow you and your process through somatic-based techniques and interventions, with the understanding that the medicine you need is already within you waiting to be unearthed.
Developed by Arny Mindell, a student of Carl Jung, Process Work takes a wholistic approach that helps people explore their inner experiences (feelings, dreams, body signals, and relationships) and outer conflicts by following the person’s process — or the flow of awareness, signals, and patterns in the present moment—to facilitate deeper understanding, integration, and transformation. Arny Mindell was one of the first white men to introduce a somatic experience in the therapeutic relationship in the 1970s.
Keri first learned about — and was exposed to — Process Work from her mentor Rashani Réa, who studied with Arny Mindell for many years. Keri officially studied Process Work and Unshaming with David Bedrick, who believes that an unshaming witness is the essence of trauma healing. As someone who was traditionally trained as a trauma-focused therapist, Keri agrees. These days, she prefers to call herself a former trauma therapist…Why? Keri has the skills and interventions to help you unshame past trauma and she also helps you get beyond the limiting identity of a trauma victim or a trauma survivor, whereas many traditionally trauma therapists will keep you boxed inside of this label. This doesn’t mean your trauma doesn’t shape who you are, but it does mean your trauma doesn’t DEFINE who you are. When ‘trauma survivor’ becomes a fixed identity, it gets in the way of liberation.
At the same time, past trauma that isn’t investigated and explored may also inhibit your ability to experience peace, joy and true happiness, as well as block your knowing of innate wholeness and perfection. Uninvestigated trauma can effect your health and wellbeing, personal growth, and the ability to have healthy relationships and/or work. A few examples of experiences related to this are:
You seem to be repeating or re-enacting certain relationship dynamics, situations, or events.
You turn to addictions like drugs, alcohol, food, sex or social media to numb yourself because feelings and other residual effects from your traumas are too painful or anxiety-producing to face.
You get triggered in certain situations and/or with certain people and you can’t understand why.
You feel unworthy, undeserving and/or are often self-critical, judgmental, and self-hating.
You disassociate from yourself and your body.
You hide authentic aspects of yourself to protect against further pain, sadness, hurt or loss.
If you have these experiences or others, please know that there is nothing wrong with you! In fact, these behaviors carry within them the medicine and wisdom you are looking for!
If you’re here on this website, then you’re probably interested in investigating and transforming. That’s great, but know that it’s not necessary in order for you to be whole, perfect and complete. In fact, ‘healing your trauma’ is not even a requirement of Awakening!
However, when you do look at yourself and explore all parts or aspects of you, you can move energy, unwind core beliefs that are disempowering or untrue, dissolve stories, and have profound and life-altering insights about yourself.
Keri offers Unshaming / Process Work, Transformative Energy-Movement & Self-Inquiry sessions to increase awareness, acceptance and Love, question conditioning and reveal hidden aspects of yourself.
